At least one powerful cylindrical disc-shaped magnet (31, 32) which can be moved up and down between the arms (2, 3) of the measuring body (1) via a screw mechanism (23) is used to press the measuring body against the surface of the rubber cloth (27) or aluminum sheet/polyester film master on the cylinder (25). A device for measuring the radial distance between a rubber cloths or an aluminum sheet/polyester film master on a steel cylinder in an offset printing press and a cylindrical reference surface on the cylinder face. The device comprises a substantially V-shaped measuring body which supports a measuring tool and has two arms extending away from its spine. During measuring, the arm edge sections are oriented relative to the sheet or rubber cloth so that the spine is parallel to the cylinder central axis. Each edge section includes at least one elongated roller (5) supporting the measuring body, the roller being rotatably mounted with a small degree of play on a large diameter axle (9) extending along the edge section and parallel to the spine. At least one powerful cylindrical disc-shaped magnet can be moved up and down between the arms via a screw mechanism located in the arm central plane. The screw mechanism has one threaded end extending through a threaded hole (18) in the spine, and the opposite end is joined to the magnet, which are oriented at right angles relative to the mechanism. During measuring, the magnet is located a small distance from the surface of the rubber cloth, aluminum sheet or master film.
