The method includes feeding products (10) to a reservoir (3), which is in communication with a metering receptacle (7), the metering receptacle (7) having an upper part with an opening (7a) and a lower part equipped with a discharge pipe (8) directed to a container (2) to be filled. A valve (9) is situated along the discharge pipe (8). An operating level changing device is used for filling the metering receptacle. The level changing device increases the level of products (10) contained in the reservoir (3), so as to cause the filling of the metering receptacle (7) with the articles (10) and the definition of a metered quantity (11) of the products inside the metering receptacle (7). The metered quantity (11) of products is sent to container (2) through the discharge pipe (8) by opening the valve (9). The level changing device is in form of a moving element (13) is reciprocated between a lowered position in which it is dipped in the product (10) in the reservoir (3), and a raised position which is over the level of the product (10). Sensors are used to maintain the product level between minimum and maximum in the reservoir. An independent claim is given for a machine which is used to meter liquid products, and for filling of containers.
