METHOD OF PERFORMING SPAN MAINTENANCE IN A MESH-RESTORABLE NETWORK

A method of performing maintenance actions on the spans of a mesh-restorable network is disclosed. The method addresses the problem ofscheduling maintenance outages on spans of the network, wherebymaintenance actions can be performed on the spans. The method comprisesthe steps of: determining, for each possible pair-wise selection of spans inthenetwork, a first indication of risk of performing a maintenance action on eachof the spans of the pair simultaneously; and sequentially performing amaintenance action on one span of span pairs having a particular firstindication of risk that is above a predetermined threshold.
