METHOD OF ADDRESSING PHYSICAL PROBLEMS OF A TOPOLOGICAL NETWORK USING A TOPOLOGY ENGINE

The topology of a network is represented, oremulated, by a topology engine comprising processing elementsinterconnected via a connection matrix. Queries representingphysical problems of the network are supplied by a hostprocessor to the topology engine, where they are processed inthe processing elements in accordance with the topology toproduce responses which are returned to the host processor. Inparticular, the network can be a communications network and thequeries can comprise search requests for determining connectionpaths between devices of the network. The topology engine canuse processors with multiple instances so that it is morecompact than the communications network that it represents.
