A microwave thermography apparatus to measuretemperatures within a dielectric body comprises a partialellipsoidal cavity with an electrical conductive surfacewherein the body can be located at one focus of the cavity. Amicrowave antenna located at a second focus of the cavity isconnected to a radiometer. That radiometer amplifies andfilters signals from the antenna before they are applied to adetector with the temperature of the body being determinedfrom the voltage amplitude of the detected signals.
