摘要
A method of analyzing cell wall components based on a hot dilute acidextraction, followed by alcohol precipitation, of plant cellulosic materialssuch as cotton fibers or wood pulp. The extracts are analyzed by high pH anionexchange chromatography to separate and characterize the carbohydrates. Thismethod extracts a characteristic series of carbohydrate multimers containinggalactose, mannose and glucose. The pattern of multimers is indicative oforigin of the cellulosic material (ie.g./i, the plant species the materialcomes from) as well as quality and processing state of the material. Thealcohol precipitation improves the discriminating powers of the analysis sothat the species of origin of plant products can be identified.
