Device and immunochromatographic method for isolating, purifying and concentrating lipophilic compounds: polychlorated biphenyls (pcbs) and related compounds

The invention relates to a method in which a device (immunoaffinity column) is used, which contains specific antibodies against the compounds concerned (PCBs and other dioxin-like compounds) so that when the sample containing said compounds passes through device, said compounds are selectively retained therein. The compounds are then recovered by means of a desorption phase so that they can be determined using different analysis techniques. The method involves extraction, purification and isolation of said compounds having high toxicity and found in very low levels in nature, which makes it difficult to detect them.
