This invention provides a kind a innovative HLV Chinese Input Method for which a standard keyboard is used for inputting Chinese characters. The keys of the said keyboard are respectively used as consonant keys, vowel keys, tone keys and radical keys of Chinese characters. It includes the following steps when making inputs: a. To input the consonants of Chinese characters; b. To input the vowels and tones of Chinese characters; c. To input radicals of Chinese characters. Among them, no tone codes are input for Chinese characters in the 1st tones and neutral tones; the "h", "l" and "v" keys which are used to indicate respectively the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tone of a Chinese character are keyed in after each of the vowels has been input. The feature of this invention is that the tones and the radical codes of Chinese characters can be input at the same time. In this way, it reduces code similarity to a great extent and increases the speed of inputting correspondingly.
