An apparatus for guiding strip material (6) to a coiler, the apparatus comprising guide means (2, 4) defining a path along which the material travels from an upstream entry end towards the coiler. The guide means include an upstream portion in which a first, upstream pair of opposed guide members (2) extend along opposite sides of the material path spaced laterally further from one another at an upstream end than at a downstream end to form a converging portion of the material path, and a downstream portion in which a second, downstream pair of opposed guide members (4) extend to opposite sides of the material path to form a portion of the path downstream of the converging portion. The apparatus also includes position control means (14, 18, 20) for controlling the lateral position of the upstream and downstream pairs of guide members (2, 4), the lateral position of at least the downstream end of the downstream guide members (4) being adjustable independently of the upstream members (2).
