A method and apparatus for providing automated completion of Internet webpage forms is provided. A centralized server computer (406) stores customer information in a data store (416). The customer information is entered by a customer (424, 426) into a portal (402) or merchant site (404) which incorporates a link to the centralized server computer (406). Thereafter, the customer information can be applied to any other form which has been registered with the centralized server computer (406). The merchant (404) is also given direct access to the completed form. The customer (424, 426) can also control privacy preferences associated with the customer information via the central server computer (406).
