HIGH POWER FILTER, METHOD THEREIN AND RADIO TRANSMITTER INCLUDING THE FILTER

A high-power superconducting filter of transmission line type is designed to have such a peak value of the operating voltage and such a characteristic impedance of the filter that the peak current in the filter is kept at a sufficiently low value so that non-linear effects induced by a high current density are negliblee for a proper operation of the filter. The filter (11) thereby obtains an improved power handling capacity. It is used in a radio transmitter circuit for band-pass filtering signals received from a power amplifier (10). Since the characteristic impedance cannot be given a standard value, impedance matching units such as transformers (15, 16) are connected at the input and output sides of the filter.
