The novel relates to novel compositions comprising a bio-enhancer obtained from the plant Glycyrrhiza glabra, including the extract of this plant, glycyrrhizin and glycyrrhizic acid, capable of enhancing the bio-availability of herbal extracts, nutraceutical compounds/compositions and drugs including anti-infective and anti-cancer agents, said composition facilitates the absorption/uptake of antibiotics and other molecules across the cell membrane in cells of plants, animals, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and the invention also provides methods for enhancing the bioavilability of nutraceutical and other compounds.
