The present invention discloses a new polypeptide- human hearing defect-related protein 38.39, the polynucleotide encoding it and a method producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technology. The present invention further discloses a method of the polypeptide treating various disorders, e.g., presbycusis, non-intergrated hearing defect, congenital deafness, auricle abnormality etc. The present invention also discloses an antagonist of the polypeptide and its therapeutic action.
