An electroplating bath includes a metal-sulfonic acid complex wherein the metal is a precious metal, and free sulfonic acid. The precious metals include Pd, Au, Hard Au (with Ni or Co as hardening agents), Pt, Rh, Ru, Ag and alloys thereof.
