A method of cleaning a circulatory water tank system whereby biofilms with the inhabitation of legionella, etc. can be effectively removed while scarcely damaging human bodies or the system. This method involves, in the circulatory water tank system, the step of circulating at least once water containing a quaternary ammonium salt and 2-phenoxyethanol at a total concentration of 150 to 5000 ppm and the step of discharging the water having been circulated.
