Process for the preparation of silicon-bridged asymmetric cyclopentadienyl-, indenyl- and fluorenyl-containing ligand systems

The prodn. of unsymmetrical Si-bridged cyclopentadienyl, indenyl or fluorenyl ligand systems (I) comprises: (a) reacting cpds. of formula (VII) with opt. substd. cyclopentadienides, indenides or fluorenides. X = halo; R19, R20 = 1-20C alkyl or fluoroalkyl, 6-14C aryl, 7-20C aralkyl or alkaryl, 6-10C haloaryl or 2-10C alkynyl; R21 = 1-10C alkyl; (b) replacing the alkoxy gp. with halogen; and (c) reacting the prod. from (b) with opt. substd. cyclopentadienides, indenides or fluorenides other than those used in (a).
