Method for digitising video signals at intermediate frequency and apparatus for implementing the same

The method involves performing pre-filtering of an input signal using a surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter. The processed signal is sent to a sampling and blocking device (10) which has bandwidth at least equal to the maximum frequency of the video signal. The sampled signals which form the output from the sampling-blocking device are applied to an A/D converter (9). The dynamic resolution of the A/D converter is adequate for about half the sampling frequency (fs). The sampling frequency is chosen to prevent aliasing.
