The inventive method for producing a lycopene-containing biomass consists in a separate growth of the Blakeslea trispora mycelial mushroom having a race 8A (+) and 8A (-). The races Blakeslea trispora 3C (+) and 3C (-), or 185A (+) and 185 (-), or 185B (+) and 185 (-) are also used as a producer. Bromide or chloride tiamine, pyridine salts and a solution of lycopene in oil are added to a culture medium. The process is carried out by mixing and aerating the biomass prior to the separation and drying thereof. The inventive method for producing crystalline lycopene consists in extraction thereof from the biomass of the Blakeslea trispora mycelial mushroom with the aid of a vegetable oil and using said races by means of an non-polar organic solvent in such a way that it makes it possible to obtain a saturated extract. Afterwards, the lycopene is crystallised and crystals are washed. The defatted biomass is dried prior to the extraction of the lycopene. The biomass being extracted by means of the non-polar organic solvent, the lycopene extract is crystallised. Production waste obtained during the washing of the lycopene crystals can be used for producing the lycopene-containing biomass.
