The invention relates to a rabbit sperm diluent and an artificial insemination method using said diluent. The invention describes the rabbit semen diluents and the use thereof, which provide artificial insemination results comparable in terms of fertility and prolificacy to the methods described in the state of the art but with lower sperm densities, between 6 12 million per dose, and which can be applied up to 30 hours after the insemination dose has been diluted. Moreover, in one of the variants of the invention it is not necessary to induce ovulation after insemination by injecting a synthetic GnRH analogue. This enables semen from selected animals to be used to inseminate a larger number of females, which increases the cost-effectiveness of animal-breeding farms and eliminates the risks of transmitting diseases through the repeated use of injection needles.
