Method and device for testing the brakes by measuring the deceleration of automotive vehicles

The method involves braking the vehicle from a determined motion to a standstill. The linear and transverse decelerations of the vehicle are measured and recorded as a function of time using a linear acceleration sensor in the direction of the vehicle axis and a second linear acceleration sensor, respectively, and used to determine the relevant braking forces. The braking may be a full braking from a determined speed to a standstill without intervention from the steering wheel. The acceleration sensors are rigidly connected to the vehicle. An Independent claim is included for an arrangement for implementing the method.
