The invention relates to (i) aqueous organopolysiloxane emulsions comprising RnSiO(4-n)/2-type units, wherein R is selected from among monovalent hydrocarbon radicals, halogenated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals and hydrogen and wherein n has an average value of between 1 and less than 3, the particles having a polydispersity index that is less than or equal to 1.05, and (ii) an aqueous organopolysiloxane emulsion obtained from organosiloxane monomer having formula (I) [-SiR(R')-O-]n, wherein R and R' represent independently of each other H or a methyl, ethyl, propyl, vinyl, allyl or phenyl radical and wherein n represents 3, 4, 5 or 6, the particles having a polydispersity index that is less than or equal to 1.05. The invention also relates to a method for preparing aqueous microemulsions, compositions comprising emulsions and the use of said microemulsions.
