The invention relates to a recovery method consisting in subjecting the residues (said residues having been previously mixed with carbon and a fluxing agent and agglomerated) to an initial treatment involving distillation with partially oxidised gases at a high temperature. Said initial treatment produces two solid state fractions with volatile constituents (ZnO concentrate) and non-volatile constituents (rich in metallic iron, referred to hereafter as DRI). The characteristics and state of said fractions serve to improve the effectiveness of the specific recycling treatments (hydrometallurgic and reduction smelting treatments respectively) that are subsequently applied to each of the fractions in order to recover the precious metals that they contain and/or so that the dumping costs can be reduced.
