The invention relates to a method and a device for cooling sleeve-shaped injection moulded pieces. The inside of the injection moulded pieces is additionally cooled by means of high pressure air in the form of a supersonic open jet, introduced by means of a cooling finger. The supersonic nozzle on the cooling finger is in the form of a separate nozzle head. A larger open jet space is preferably provided for the open jet. The cooling finger simultaneously serves for manipulation, the inside of the preform being vacuum held over the cooling finger.
