A chassis control network architecture (20) having an electronic control module (30) mountable on a steering column subassembly (56) is disclosed. A first communications bus (36) is connected to the electronic control module (30) and an actuator control module (40) is in communication with the electronic control module (30), through the first communications bus (36). The actuator control module (40) is further connected to an electric steering motor (16), and is capable of receiving a steering input command from the electronic control module (30) and applying it to the electric steering motor (16).
