Disclosed is a nucleic acid molecule encoding a protein interacting with the carboxy terminus of the chemokine receptor CCR5 or of other chemokine receptor family members as well as the encoded protein. Furthermore, the invention describes expression vectors, host cells, antibodies, antagonists, pharmaceutical compositions and methods for treating HIV infection and progression to AIDS.
