Use of a polyol as a gelling agent for cold-water soluble gelatin gels. Films, articles and capsules formed therefrom

The invention relates to the use of polyethylene glycol having molecular weights ranging from 200 - 35000 g/mol (average weight) as gel formers for especially native gelatines or gelatine hydrolysates. The gelatine hydrolysates have Bloom numbers ranging from 40 - 120, preferably around 100. The gel-forming composition is especially suitable, in the embodiment, for the production of moulded bodies, especially capsules having a single-pieced covering which are soluble in water at temperatures of below 40 DEG C, whereby the contents thereof are released.
