Disclosed is the use of a hydantoin derivative of the formula (I) wherein R₁ and R₂ each independently is H, alkyl or cycloalkyl; and X and Y each independently is H, OH, alkyl or alkoxy, or X and Y together form an oxo group, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate or complex thereof, for the manufacture of a medicament effective in the treatment of hypoalbuminaemia.
