PURPOSE: Provided are a thermoplastic fire-retardant acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) resin composition excellent in impact-resistance and heat stability and a process for producing the ABS resin composition by mixing graft copolymers and a fire-retardant. CONSTITUTION: The process for producing the ABS resin composition comprises the steps of: reacting 10-40wt% out of 50-30pts.wt. of a graft monomer mixture consisting of 70-80% of styrene and 30-20% of acrylonitrile, a molecular weight controller, a reducing agent, an emulsifier, a polymerization initiator and ion exchange water in the presence of 50-70pts.wt. of a rubber polymer latex having an average particle size of 0.28-0.33 micrometer and the gel content of 75-85% at 65-75deg.C to produce a first graft copolymer latex having a polymerization conversion of 90-96%; reacting the residual graft monomer mixture, the molecular weight controller, and the polymerization initiator in the presence of the first graft copolymer latex at 65-75deg.C to produce a second graft copolymer latex; adding a styrene-acrylonitrile(SAN) resin having the acrylonitrile content of 24-32%, a weight average molecular weight of 90,000-250,000, and a molecular weight distribution of 1.7-2.2 and the fire-retardant to the second graft copolymer latex and mixing and processing.
