- A novel microorganism Bacillus pumilus BS-019 absorbing dioxin and dioxin-like compounds and a biosorption method of the same

PURPOSE: A novel microorganism, Bacillus Pumilus BS-019 (KCCM-10190), is provided to eliminate dioxin and dioxin-like compounds such as 1,2,3,4-TCDD, PCDDs, PCDFs, 1,2,3,4-TCDF and PCBs which are discharged mainly from municipal incinerators with no secondary pollution. CONSTITUTION: Bacillus Pumilus BS-019 (KCCM-10190), a gram-positive aerobic bacteria, does not form spore and has not activity. In the initial stage of growth, Bacillus Pumilus BS-019 is rod or branched type, however as it grows, it becomes Micrococcus. The optimal culture conditions of Bacillus Pumilus BS-019 are in pH range of 7.0 to 8.5 at 30deg.C.
