The manufacture of natural dye with antimicrobiality using Saururus chinensis and dyeing method

PURPOSE: A method for producing antibacterial natural pigment from saururus chinensia is provided to give antibacterial property to a matter to be dyed, to supply various dye colors using different extracting methods and different mordants, and to improve dye fastness. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing such pigment comprises the steps of crushing saururus chinensia, extracting the crushed saururus chinensia with 1 liter of methanol or distilled water for 4 hours, and concentrating the extract to a volume of 100 milliliter. The extracting step is carried out at 65 deg.C when methanol is used and at 100 deg.C when distilled water is used. In order to dye using the pigment prepared by the method, the concentrated extract is diluted and filtered. Then, the filtrate is dyed to fabrics in a bath ratio 1:50, followed by fixing at 80 deg.C for 30 minutes with a mordant of at least one selected from the group consisting of KAl(SO4)2, K2Cr2O7, FeSO4 and CuSO4.
