PURPOSE: Provided is a process for wastewater treatment employing auto-controlled intermittent aeration system. The system controls automatically nitrification reaction and denitrification reaction according to pH and ORP(Oxidation Reduction Potential) and reduces the reaction times of nitrification and denitrification in comparison with conventional intermittent aeration system operated simply at fixed intervals. CONSTITUTION: The system consists of the following parts: a reactor composed of an intermittent aeration zone(R1), an anoxic zone(R2), an aerobic zone(R3) and a settling zone(R4); a controller equipped with pH and ORP electrodes(a and b), pH and ORP meters(A and B), an A/D or D/A converter(C), PC(D) and a relay(E); and an operator composed of an air blower(F), a three-way electric valve(G), an inner return pump(H), a stirrer(I) in water and a settled sludge return pump(J).
