Uranium foil having fine grains solidified rapidly from melt by cooling roll directly and the fabrication apparatus and the fabrication process
PURPOSE: Low and high concentrated uranium and uranium alloy foils having high purity and quality are provided in which complicated manufacturing process is simplified, productivity and economic feasibility of foil manufacturing are improved, surface oxidation is prevented, and residual stress is removed, and an apparatus and a process for fabricating the same are provided. CONSTITUTION: The uranium foil having fine grains directly rapidly solidified from melt by cooling roll is characterized in that the uranium alloy has a relation U-(A)Q-(B)X-C(Y), wherein Q is an element selected from the group consisting of Al, Fe, Ni, Si, Cr and Zr, X is an element selected from the group consisting of Al, Fe, Ni, Si, Cr and Zr, Y is an element selected from the group consisting of Al, Fe, Ni, Si, Cr and Zr, QXY, (A)=1 wt.%, (B)=1 wt.%, and (C)=1 wt.%. The apparatus for fabricating the uranium foil having fine grains directly rapidly solidified from melt by cooling roll comprises a heat resisting crucible(2) onto which a slot nozzle(1) is adhered; an induction coil(3) which is connected from a high frequency current generator increasing a temperature inside the crucible(2); a vacuum pump system(5) forming a proper degree of vacuum inside a chamber(4); rolls(6) which are installed inside the chamber(4); a gas supply valve(7) supplying a gas into the chamber(4); and a recovery container(8) into which a manufactured foil is collected.
