PURPOSE: A reverse power control method in an IS(Interim Standard)-2000 CDMA mobile system is provided to improve the performance of a reverse link by setting a reference signal to noise ratio from the average FER(Frame Error Rate) of all the reverse traffic channels in use and executing reverse closed circuit power control for all the reverse traffic channels in use. CONSTITUTION: A base station calculates the average FER for all the reverse traffic channels in use according to external circuit power control(S1). Based on the calculated average FER, the base station setting a reference signal to noise ratio(S2). The base station sets a reference channel to determine a PCB(Power Control Bit) using all the reverse traffic channels in use periodically and alternately(S3). The base station compares the received signal to noise ratio of the set reference channel with the set reference signal to noise ratio(S4). The base station determines the PCB every 1.25ms according to a comparison result(S5). The base station transmits the determined PCB to a mobile station through a forward power control sub channel(S6). The mobile station controls its own transmit power, based on the received PCB(S7).
