PURPOSE: A wire coating test apparatus is provided to achieve improved reliability for the test apparatus and product by allowing the superfine wire produced at a high speed to be precisely test in a non-contact method and real time basis. CONSTITUTION: A wire coating test apparatus comprises a high voltage generating unit(10) for generating a high voltage required for test; a high voltage tube(20) for receiving the high voltage generated in the high voltage generating unit; a photo sensor unit(30) for sensing the amount of light of spark generated while the defective coating portion of wire is passing through the high voltage tube in a non-contact method, and providing the sensed amount in an electrical signal; a test unit(40) for processing the electrical signal applied from the photo sensor unit, and outputting the result of test indicating whether the wire coating is normal or not; and a speed and position detection unit(50) for detecting the speed of movement of wire and detecting the position of defects in the wire coating.
