PURPOSE: A VOD(Voice On Demand) and electronic commerce system using a TV broadcasting network is provided to make product information as an electronic catalog book, and to insert the information with address data of a receiver into an in-band data channel, then to distribute the electronic catalog book to an address-specified receiver terminal device, thereby constantly retrieving the electronic catalog to order a product. CONSTITUTION: Transmitters(110,111,112) insert receiver address data(103) to transmit the data to an in-band data channel of a TV broadcasting channel(109). A host computer(106) calls subscriber individual addresses to give group addresses to terminal devices, and gives address data to transmission data of electronic catalog book signal data, then controls a system of an electronic catalog provider. TV broadcasting systems transmit electronic catalog book data and the address data to a receiver through a TV broadcasting. A subscriber terminal device(113) receives digital data of an electronic catalog book to store data of the electronic catalog book, and processes data stored under control of a subscriber to a signal capable of watching on a TV monitor, then displays the data on the TV monitor. A remote control(115) retrieves contents of the electronic catalog or prints or stores the contents. A wire or wireless communication unit(107) orders a product selected from the electronic catalog by a user.
