- Polyphenol-drug complex using polyphenol extracted from Green tea as a novel drug delivery system and a preparation method thereof

PURPOSE: A polyphenol-drug complex obtained by crosslinking a drug with a polyphenol compound from the extraction of green tea is provided which has no toxicity and side effects and can effectively treat diseases by releasing a drug slowly from the administered site. CONSTITUTION: The polyphenol-drug complex comprises a drug and a polyphenol compound, wherein the polyphenol compound contains 10 to 28% (-)-epigallocatechin 3-o-gallate, 2 to 18% (-)-gallocatechin 3-o-gallate, 2 to 6% (-)-epicatechin 3-o-gallate, 2 to 18% (-)-epigallocatechin, 5 to 15% (+)-gallocatechin, 1 to 7.0% (-)-epicatechin and 1 to 9% (+)-catechin and the drug is selected from the group consisting of conventionally developed drugs, genes, peptides and proteins. A polyphenol solution is adjusted to pH 4.7-7 and added with the drug, the crosslinked drugs are left at low temperature, and the precipitate is dried.
