PURPOSE: A low temperature thin film impact separation testing apparatus and chipping resistance evaluating method is provided to obtain uniform data on the contact force and chipping resistance of surface treated steel plate in a shortest time period and in an economical manner. CONSTITUTION: A low temperature thin film impact separation testing apparatus is characterized in that a fixing weight is installed onto a pin(5) which directly collides against a sample(14), so as to adjust the degree of collision, a protractor(15) for adjusting angle of a rotating support(1) is installed, and a stainless container(12) is arranged underneath the sample. A chipping resistance evaluating method comprises the steps of striking the sample, obtaining an absorbing energy, and evaluating chipping resistance by using the value obtained by dividing the absorbing energy by the separated cross section of the sample.
