PURPOSE: A system and a method for indexing a document using a concept ranking technique are provided to make a search speed fast by selecting a word which is frequently generated, thereby preparing an investigation table having a predetermined amount of words(for example, from a hundred thousand to two million words), and registering a corresponding document in the case that indexes of a document to be searched are existed within a predetermined distance(for example, from eight to fifty words) and existed in the investigation table in all. CONSTITUTION: In a document indexing method for analyzing a document and storing information according to index words, a document to be indexed is analyzed and a reference word is extracted(S305). It is checked whether the reference word is existed in a pre-registered investigation table(S315). If the reference word is existed in the investigation table, the reference word is set as the first word(S325), the second word which is positioned within a predetermined distance from the first word is extracted, and it is checked whether the second word is existed in the investigation table(S340). If the reference word and the second word are existed in the investigation table, an index word manufactured by a combination of the first word and the second word is registered, and file information is stored(S345).
