PURPOSE: Provided is a method for culturing yeast Phaffia rhodozyma Geno-276 producing natural antioxidant, astaxanthin characteristically by using sucrose and Perilla frutescens extract. CONSTITUTION: Phaffia rhodozyma Geno-276(KACC 93003) is prepared by mutating Phaffia rhodozyma(KCTC 7800) with NTG. It has excellent production of astaxanthin and carotenoid when cultured in a medium added with 5% of sucrose and 5% of Perilla frutescens extract.
