Apparatus for object extraction based on the feature matching of region in the segmented images and method therefor

PURPOSE: A device for extracting an object based on an area feature value matching of an area-divided image is provided to enable an automatic object extraction by suppling a query image including an object to be extracted and an object extraction-targeted image only, thereby reducing time for extracting an object. CONSTITUTION: An image input unit(110) inputs a query image including an object and an object extraction-targeted image for extracting the object. An object location decider(120) decides a location of the object within the object extraction-targeted image by a color feature matching with pixel units. An image divider(130) divides areas of the query image and the object extraction-targeted image by using an image feature value including colors or textures. An object area determiner(140) matches the areas by using a color or a texture feature value for the divided object extraction-targeted areas corresponding to the decided object location, based on the object included in the divided query image. The object area determiner determines a final object area by using similarity between the matched areas.
