PURPOSE: An electronic textbook system is provided to enable a user to do a homework or receive an education by receiving or transmitting data over the wireless or wired network, and to upgrade contents of the textbook by exchanging flash memory cards storing contents of a subject such as the national language, the mathematics, the science or the fine art. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a wireless modem, an antenna(20), a flash memory card(24), a microphone(18), a speaker(16), a stylus(22), an LCD(12), and an infrared port(21). The wireless modem or the antenna(20), selected by an educatee, communicates education related data with a computer of a teacher over a wireless network. The flash memory card(24), attachable to or detachable from the system, stores the contents of education subjects. The microphone(18) and the speaker(16) are embedded at a side of the system. The LCD(12) displays the contents of the education subjects, and icons having specific functions which are selected and driven by a touch of the stylus(22). The infrared port(21), formed at one side of the system, enables the system to perform an infrared communication with external peripherals.
