PURPOSE: Provided is a two-step manufacturing method of porous carbon materials, clay-wood ceramic, by producing composites of clay-wood phenol resin and carbonizing unlike conventional four-step method. CONSTITUTION: The clay-wood ceramic composites are manufactured by producing clay-wood ceramic compacts through the processes of mixing clay, thermoplastic phenol formaldehyde resin and wood components such as fibers or particles, forming and thermal-pressing, followed by carbonizing the compacts at 800deg.C for 3hrs. The clay-wood-ceramic composites are excellent in dimensional stability, char yield and heat resistance and strength.
