PURPOSE: A method of detecting a three-dimensional image converted from a two-dimensional vehicle image using polar coordinates of a reference point is provided to convert vehicle images captured by cameras installed on roads into three-dimensional images to calculate correct traffic information. CONSTITUTION: A reference object having a specific reference size is located distant from a camera and photographed using the camera to acquire a two-dimensional image of the reference object. Background image information including three-dimensional coordinate information corresponding to the actual distance and height of the object is set to corresponding camera information. A three-dimensional value is calculated from a two-dimensional image of a moving object using the background image information.
