PURPOSE: A method for preventing cracks on the corner of continuous cast steel slab is provided to greatly reduce cracks on the corner of the continuous cast steel slab by inserting thermocouples into the short side part of a mold, thereby appropriately controlling deviation of temperature measured from the thermocouples. CONSTITUTION: In a continuous casting method for manufacturing slab by injecting molten steel into a mold from tundish and applying the manufactured slab into a heating furnace, the method for preventing cracks on the corner of continuous cast steel slab comprises the processes of inserting a plurality of thermocouples(4) into a place in which distance (E) from both ends of the short side part(1) of the mold to the center side of the mold is within 20 mm, a thermocouple inserting depth (H) is between 50 and 100 mm in a length direction of the mold on the molten steel surface(3), and distance (T) from the inner side of the short side part of the mold to the thermocouples is within 1/3 of the total thickness of the mold; and controlling operation factors so that deviation of temperature measured from the thermocouples(4) is within 3 deg.C.
