FIELD: vitamins, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method of synthesis of α-tocopherol (vitamin E) that is a lipophilic antioxidant of mammal biological membranes. α-Tocopherol is synthesized by condensation of trimethylhydroquinone with racemic isophytol under condition of heterogeneous catalysis in the presence of zeolite-containing alumosilicate "Zeokar-10". The process is carried out at boiling in hydrocarbon or aromatic solvents (toluene, heptane, nonane) in the mole ratio trimethylhydroquinone : isophytol = 1:2 for 5-10 h.
