FIELD: manufacture of engines; testing and adjusting fuel-injection equipment. SUBSTANCE: method of testing high-pressure fuel injection pump for tightness consists in shutting-off exhaust passage at outlet of pump housing or intake passage by introducing part made form plastically deformable material dissolving in fuel first of all in case of its heating; pump housing is inserted into seat found in engine body or into test seat and into first circular cavity communicated with closed exhaust passage, and working medium under test pressure is delivered to second circular cavity communicated with closed exhaust passage: it is preferable to use gaseous medium as working medium; drop of pressure of working medium is recorded as signal indicating presence of untightness. For realization of said method, exhaust or intake passage is expanded towards first or second circular cavity. EFFECT: simplified construction; facilitated testing procedure; enhanced reliability. 6 cl, 1 dwg
