SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel derivatives of 4-hydroxyindole comprising at least one cationic group Z taken among quaternized aliphatic groups, aliphatic groups comprising at least one quaternized saturated ring and aliphatic groups comprising at least one quaternized unsaturated ring. Invention describes also the use of indicated derivatives of 4-hydroxyindoles as dye-forming substances in oxidative staining keratin fibers, compositions comprising thereof and methods of oxidative staining using these dyes. Compositions based on said compounds promote to the effective staining, width of obtainable tones with good resistance to different kinds of treatment of keratin fibers.
