The device has a memory holding the results obtained by multiplying a number of energy correction values, determined from the influence parameters of reference heating elements on the printing head heating elements and all possible energy values for each of the heating elements.A read-out device selects a reference heating element based on a printing data element and reads the corresponding energy correction value from the memory in dependence on the influence parameters of the reference heating element and the energy value supplied to the heating element.
