The source (Q) and drain (S) bound the transmission section (U2), contained in the transmission path (U1), and are capable of changing bits and parity bits used for the tandem information. The source and drain are activated and the bits of incoming data block for the tandem information are set in the source, or reset or newly set in the drain. The changes of bits and/or parity bits are compensated in the data block in the parity bits of the following data block. The setting and compensation are repeated during the required monitoring. Then the intended tandem monitoring deactivation is signaled and the bits for the tandem information are modified. Independent claims are included for the source, drain, and telecommunication network.
