A method for maintaining an upper limit value of the average total power of n spatially separate groups of consumers

The method involves detecting the actual total power, computing the trend of the mean total power for the n groups (10) of loads (12) and computing a correction power and a local upper limit for the mean total power per group. If at least one correction power is positive the local upper limit is varied so that the sum of the resulting correction powers with a positive value is minimized, then a suitable number of loads in the group with a positive correction power is switched off. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for maintaining the upper limit of the mean total power of spatially separate groups of loads.
